These next two medals are for the 40th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. On the left is the Labor version and on the right is a example of the Military version. These medals were established on April 12th 1985 and were awarded to all servicemen and employed civilians of the Soviet Armed Forces who actively participated in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, to partisans and members of clandestine underground organizations who operated within occupied territories of the USSR, and to those previously awarded with medals "For Victory over Germany" or "Victory over Japan". Three variations exist for this medal. For military service, with the legend "To the Participant of War" on the reverse. For distinguished labor, with the legend "To the Participant of the Labor Front" on the reverse. For special military delegations arriving in Moscow to take part in the 40th anniversary celebrations, only the legend "XXX years of victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945" appears on the reverse. All are made of Brass and 8,000,000 were issued to military participants(pictured right), 3,000,000 were issued to labor front workers(pictured left), and 5,000 to members of foreign delegations. |
